Joomla CMS (Content Management System) |
|
Joomla has proven to be a sophisticated yet user-friendly open source Content Management System (CMS). Used by companies big and small for websites of all purposes, Joomla is flexible, simple to manage, and reliable. It comes ready to enable dynamic features such as video streaming, flash banners, Google maps, subscription systems and many more into your website, or it can be as pared back as you wish if you prefer the “less is more” approach.
What do we mean by the term CMS? It is simply a computer application used to create, edit, manage, and publish content in a consistently organised fashion. The power of a web-based CMS like Joomla is that it provides intuitive tools to allow users with little or no knowledge of programming languages to manage their own websites. Your site’s colours, graphics and font styles are contained within automated templates that enable you to focus instead on creating informative and search engine friendly content. With Joomla you will not be tied to a site created through inaccessible proprietary software and you won’t need constant and expensive back-end support. Once Out of Site Sites has created the site for your business, you or your staff can modify the text, images, page arrangement and a whole suite of other features to enable the site to evolve with your business. Best of all, you will be able to access Joomla’s creative tools at any location from an internet connected computer.
So talk to us about your concepts and let us put together the templates to create a site of distinction for your business. |

Award Winning Joomla!
Each year Packt Publishing opens the voting booths for users everywhere to cast votes for the best content management system. There are a number of very qualified contenders in each of the categories including CMS Made Simple, Plone, and Drupal. This year, Joomla took the runner-up prize in the categories of Best Overall Open Source CMS Award and the Best PHP Open Source CMS (tied with CMS Made Simple). This results in a total prize winnings of USD$3500 to the Joomla Project.
Even though Joomla has taken home several Packt Awards in the past, Joomla Core Team member Andrew Eddie asserted, "This has made me more determined to do better next year." Also, Joomla developer Johan Janssens was awarded the Open Source MVP 2008 prize, a new category in this year's awards, for his outstanding contributions to Joomla. Joomla Core Team member Brad Baker summed it up, "The future is bright for open source content management systems like Drupal and Joomla, whichever you use."
